Duties for the Executive Council

The following positions will be elected at the IFMSA-USA House of Delegates:

The National President serves as the principal executive officer of IFMSA-USA; directs and delegates responsibilities to the IFMSA-USA Executive Council; represents IFMSA-USA as her official representative in all settings, including to the IFMSA-USA Board of Trustees, IFMSA, and the general public; and, ensures that IFMSA-USA medical student members receive sufficient benefits of membership. 

The National Secretary-General is the principal administrator for the internal affairs and day-to-day operation of IFMSA-USA; transcribes minutes at all meetings of IFMSA-USA; serves as the point-of-contact for Local Member Organization Presidents; serves as the initial IFMSA-USA point of correspondence for IFMSA-USA medical student members regarding all general questions; and delegates questions from IFMSA-USA medical student members to the appropriate Executive Council member when necessary. 

The National Vice-President for Internal Affairs publishes the IFMSA-USA Handbook, Convention Handbook, and Newsletter (forthcoming in 2001); serves as the contact person for representatives of affiliate organizations; moderates the IFMSA-USA-Members listserve; and facilitates the production of the IFMSA-USA National Convention. 

The National Vice-President for External Affairs ensures the production of the IFMSA-USA homepage; organizes the IFMSA-USA Liaison Officers; initiates and sustains contacts with IFMSA-USA sponsors; and develops promotional material for IFMSA-USA. 

The National Treasurer is responsible for the financial administration and bookkeeping of IFMSA-USA. 

The National Exchange Officer (NEO) administers all activities of the Standing Committee on Professional Education (SCOPE), and organizes the bilateral clinical exchanges for IFMSA-USA member students within IFMSA. 

The National Officer for Research Exchange (NORE) administers all activities of the Standing Committee on Research Exchange (SCORE), and organizes the bilateral research exchanges for IFMSA-USA member students within IFMSA. 

The National Public Health Officer (NPO) administers all activities of the Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH), and acts as a liaison for IFMSA-USA member students wishing to participate in the Village Projects of the Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH). 

The National Officer for Refugees and Peace (NORP) administers all activities of the Standing Committee on Refugees and Peace (SCORP), and acts as a liaison for IFMSA-USA member students wishing to participate in the Refugee Projects of the Standing Committee on Refugees and Peace (SCORP). 

The National Officer for Medical Education (NOME) administers all activities of the Standing Committee on Medical Education (SCOME), including the Book Aid Project where used textbooks are collected and redistributed to medical students around the world. 

The National Officer for Reproductive Health and AIDS (NORA) administers all activities of the Standing Committee on Reproductive Health and AIDS (SCORA).

The National Officer for Disasters and Emergencies (NODE) administers all activities of the Standing Committee on Disasters and Emergencies (SCODE), and organizes medicine and medical supply collection drives at USA medical schools when a medical disaster occurs somewhere throughout the world.
